Brian ZiffShawn Mendes stays grounded in the video for his new single, “In My Blood.”
The singer quite literally spends the entire video laying on the ground.
“Laying on the bathroom floor, feeling nothing/I’m overwhelmed and insecure, give me something,” Shawn sings. “Help me, it’s like the walls are caving in/Sometimes I feel like giving up/But I just can’t/It isn’t in my blood.”
Before the first chorus kicks in, chunks of concrete begin crumbling down on Shawn, after which rain begins pouring down. By the song’s conclusion, the sun has come out and flowers start to bloom all around him.
“In My Blood” is the first single off Shawn’s upcoming third album. He previously tweeted about the track, “This song is the closest song to my heart that I’ve ever written and I hope you guys love it and all the new music coming your way.”
