Justin BettmanJason Mraz wants his fans to “Have It All.” That’s the name of his new single and video, and it has the same kind of bouncy, optimistic feel as his signature hit “I’m Yours.”

The song was inspired by a blessing Jason received from a Buddhist monk he met in Myanmar in 2012, but it’s only recently that he felt compelled to turn it into a fully-realized track.

“The world had changed a lot since 2012,” Jason says, adding, “…I wrote a lot of frustrated, angry, even sad songs between then and now, but nothing I wanted to come forward with; nothing I wanted to sing.”

“‘Have It All’ stood out as a song with a hopeful message to help me heal and move forward,” he continues. “A a song with a message of generosity — the antithesis of despondency… it’s a blessing disguised as a rap song and it’s meant to be paid forward and shared.”

The video features Jason, the band Raining Jane, and some other folks traveling through Jason’s hometown of Richmond, Virgina via trolley car and Segway. Eventually, Jason makes his way to a school where he finds the kids are asleep due to their boring teacher, played by Heroes actor Greg Grunberg. Jason wakes them up and they all start singing and dancing along with him.

The kids in the clips are students from the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC), of which Jason is a sponsor and program advisor, as well as students from the Richmond-area Turnaround Arts school.

On June 3, Jason will perform at SPARC’s annual fundraising concert, along with Josh Groban, Sara Bareilles, Doobie Brothers legend Michael McDonald, and former American Idol contestant Rayvon Owen.

Jason will kick off his Good Vibes tour July 25 in Grand Rapids, MI.
