The saga continues as ZAYN releases new single & video, “Entertainer”

The new single, “Entertainer,” is now available at all the usual digital outlets.  The video continues the storyline that ZAYN first introduced in the song “Dusk Till Dawn” and continued in “Let Me.”  Actor Steven Bauer reprises his recurring role as a bad guy in the clip.

The video features fewer twists and turns than the two previous clips: This one shows ZAYN, who still has that mysterious briefcase, in a strip club, being given a lap dance by a girl with a blonde bob wig.  It appears she’s been told to do so by someone who’s watching her from a camera in the ceiling.

While that’s happening, ZAYN keeps flashing back — or is it forward? — to himself in a hotel room with the girl from the “Let Me” video, who appears to be same the girl in the strip club, but it’s not clear.  In the flashback, the girl in the hotel room ultimately leaves him, and the blonde girl in the strip club does as well. 

While it appears as though the singer is being set up in some way — we see Bauer’s character enter the strip club, possibly up to no good — at the end of the clip, we see ZAYN standing on a dock looking out over the water, with the briefcase next to him.

Consequence of Sound suggests that this video is actually a prequel to “Let Me,” and shows how ZAYN first encounters the girl he runs off with in that clip.

All three singles will presumably appear on ZAYN’s sophomore album, which currently has no title or release date.
