Jason BellOnly in New York City can you can take in a hit Broadway show, and then sing karaoke with the cast members…including a Grammy-winning pop star.

Jason Mraz, who co-starred in the hit musical Waitress earlier this year, will co-host the show’s “Cast Album Karaoke” post-show party session June 12.  If you have a ticket to see Waitress that night, you can sign up before the performance for the chance to sing a minute of any song from the show, accompanied by its musical director.  Of course, you’ll have to feel comfortable belting out a tune in front of Jason and the cast.

Jason’s in New York City next week in part to attend the Songwriters Hall of Fame annual induction gala.  At the June 14 event, his pal Sara Bareilles, who composed the music for Waitress and co-starred in it with him earlier this year, is being honored with a special award.

Sara will receive the Hal David Starlight Award, given to young songwriters who are making an impact in the music industry with their work.  Jason won the same award in 2009.
