As Billboard reports, the lyrics of “Look What You Made Me Do” appeared more across the Internet in 2018 than any other song’s, including searches, articles and other usages. The data was collected from January 1 to December 3, 2018.
It’s no wonder that “Look What You Made Me Do” topped the chart, considering that its lyrics were interpreted as both a direct attack on Taylor’s enemies, and the announcement of her new era, via the part that goes, “The old Taylor can’t come to the phone right now. Why? Because she’s dead!”
The second-most-viewed lyric of the year was Camila Cabello’s “Havana,’ followed by Dua Lipa’s “New Rules.” The rest of the top 20 includes Maroon 5‘s “Girls Like You,” Post Malone’s “Rockstar,” “Fefe” by 6IX9NINE & Nicki Minaj, “Attention” by Charlie Puth, “Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B, and Cardi’s other #1 hit, “I Like It.”
