ABC/Eric McCandlessLauren Daigle recently wrapped up a Christmas tour, and earlier this week, she performed her hit song “You Say” on ABC’s Good Morning America.  Now, the Grammy nominee is ready to head home for the holidays.

“All we do is eat,” she laughs. “I’m from Louisiana, so it’s a very big deal, all the food!”

“We make shrimp and grits every year for Christmas Eve,” she tells ABC Radio. “I don’t know if they’re gonna mix it up this year and do something a little different, ’cause we’re going to my grandparents’ house and typically it’s at our family’s house…so we’ll see.”

All that eating will play out to a soundtrack of Nat King Cole, which Lauren says is her “favorite.”  But she’s also looking back on a year when she became a lot of people’s new favorite artist.

While she’s a major star in the Contemporary Christian field, the success of “You Say” has meant that Lauren’s now a pop star, and music fans who otherwise wouldn’t have heard of her are discovering her music. She recalls encountering one such fan while on tour.

“They were in the Q&A or something and they said, ‘I might be your newest fan, I just found your music, like, a month ago,'” she tells ABC Radio. “And everything in me just lit up! I love that! I love that people are still brand-new to the whole ‘Lauren Daigle’ thing!”

In the new year, Lauren can look forward to a new leg of her tour in support of her album Look Up Child, as well as the Grammy Awards, where she’s up for two trophies.  She’s also participating in a pre-Grammy tribute concert to Dolly Parton, along with stars like Katy Perry, Pink and Shawn Mendes.
