Ezra Shaw/Getty ImagesMadonna once again flew her rainbow flag in support of the LGBTQ community when she delivered a surprise performance New Year’s Eve at New York City’s famed Stonewall Inn gay bar.

The Queen of Pop performed an acoustic version of her classic hit “Like a Prayer,” as well as Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” accompanied by her 13-year-old son, David Banda, on guitar.

The performances followed a lengthy speech Madonna delivered about gay rights.  “If we truly look and we truly take the time to get to know one another, we would find that we all bleed the same color and we all need to love and be loved,” she said, in part.  “In this new year, let’s commit to disarming people with unexpected acts of kindness,” she continued.

After the show, Madonna posted a photo of her and David at the event on her Twitter and Instagram, writing, “Me and my favorite Freedom Fighter At Stonewall Inn!  An unforgettable New Years Eve!!”

The Stonewall Inn is the site of the 1969 Stonewall Riots, an violent uprising of the gay community in response to a police raid that June.  The Stonewall Riots are considered to mark the beginning of the gay rights movement in the U.S.
