ABC/Image Group LASam Smith won the Best Original Song Oscar in 2016 for “Writing’s on the Wall,” his theme song for the James Bond movie Spectre. But until recently, he says he didn’t display the prestigious award in his house, because he didn’t like seeing it.

Speaking to the U.K. radio show The Official Big Top 40, Sam explains, “I used to hide it away and not look at it because it made me feel uncomfortable. Now I’ve got it out [on a shelf], and I’m trying to embrace it.”

Asked to pick which song will win the category at this year’s Oscars, Sam predicts “Shallow” by Lady Gaga will take home the prize. He also says he’d like to see either Gaga or The Favourite star Olivia Colman win the Best Actress Oscar.

“I watched The Favourite and she was outrageous in that,” Sam says of Colman. “Oh my God, she’s so good in that film. But Gaga was amazing too.”

As for whether or not he’d be interested in recording another James Bond movie theme, Sam says, “No, I think I’ve done that.”

Sam says recording a Bond theme is “unbelievably stressful,” adding, “It’s very exciting when it happens…but after you release it…there’s not one person that’s ever released a Bond song that has gotten all positive feedback.”

“It’s so brutal, actually, in terms of releasing music, ’cause not everyone’s gonna be happy, ’cause everyone’s got in their head what is a Bond song,” he explains.

“But in terms of experiences, I’m so, so honored to have done it and I still love it, and I love singing it, and it’s a beautiful part of me now.”
