Rachel Platten is going from fight songs to lullabyes, now that she’s welcomed her first child, daughter Violet Skye. The singer is now busy, as she puts it, “falling deeeeply in love” with her new baby, who arrived January 26.  Rachel’s also relieved that finally, the focus is off her.

Last fall, when she was still pregnant, Rachel released a song called “You Belong,” which she wrote for the baby.  One of the lines was, “I’ll show you what love is and all that you’re worth/You show me how to put somebody else first.”  That sentiment was exactly what she was looking forward to about motherhood.

“I think it’s gonna be really beautiful to stop focusing so heavily on myself,” Rachel told ABC Radio the same day she announced on Good Morning America that she was having a girl.

“For so many years, I have been really obsessed with my career, and making myself better,” she explained. “Whether that’s in [a] mind/body/spirit place, or just, y’know, trying to make sure I’m putting out the best music possible.”

“I’m just kinda exhausted of thinking about myself all the time!” she said, laughing. “So I’m very ready to love something way more than I love me!”

We’ll have to wait a while to see what new music baby Violet inspires her mommy to make.
