Interscope RecordsDaya is back with some new music.

The Grammy-winning singer has released her first new track since June 2018. It’s called “Insomnia” and it features a pulsating dance beat and lyrics about missing the person you love.

“‘Insomnia’ is a sudden feeling of vacancy when you’re not waking up to the person you love, whether it’s permanently or just for the night,” Daya says of the song’s inspiration.

She adds, “It’s like the moment you come home from a party all alone and the sun’s rising and you have this empty feeling in your stomach that no amount of antidote can cure.”

A music video for the song, which she co-wrote, is coming soon, but in the meantime, “Insomnia” is featured in a new ad promoting David’s Bridal new line of prom dresses.

In the spot, airing exclusively on MTV this month, Daya surprises two fans with the ultimate prom makeover.

Daya’s last release was a song called “Safe,” inspired by the October 2017 mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas.
