Interscope RecordsOn Monday, Ellie Goulding and Lauv took to social media to tease the release of “Slow Grenade,” a collaboration that appears on Ellie’s upcoming album, Brightest Blue.  Now, the song has arrived.

As previously reported, Brightest Blue has two distinct halves: “Slow Grenade” is from the “EG.O” half of the album.  The deceptively upbeat-sounded tune features the two artists singing about a relationship that both of them realize has gone south, but neither one of them wants to let go.

“Can’t escape this blowing up in my face/so why can’t I stop it?/Still got time for me to stop it/It’s like a part of me must love it/That’s why I’m not running from it,” they sing.

Brightest Blue comes out July 17; that same day, Ellie will perform on Good Morning America‘s Summer Concert series on ABC.
