ABC NewsIt was a big surprise to fans last month when Sia revealed last month that she adopted two boys last year who were aging out of the foster care system; they’re both 19 now. Well, get ready for another surprise: Sia’s now a grandmother.
In a lengthy interview with Zane Lowe, Sia, who’s 44, compared herself to a “grandma” because of the way that she worries, but then added, “My youngest son just had two babies! I’m a f***ing grandma!”
“They call me ‘Nana,'” she added. “I’m trying to get them to call me ‘lovey’ — like Kris Kardashian[‘s grandchildren do]!”
Sia became extremely emotional while discussing her sons, and sobbed as she admitted, “I’m embarrassed that it took me to adopt two Black sons to really understand what they go through on a daily basis,” and said that she’s “very scared” for the boys.
In her struggle to keep the boys — who’ve endured years of trauma — on the straight and narrow, Sia explained to Lowe that she tells them, “I’m doing this because I’m your mother. I love you. I don’t want to see you in prison…with your history and the color of your skin, I don’t want to see you as that 5 percent that ends up in prison for life. I don’t want that for you.”
Sia also shared that her sons have brought her a lot of joy, revealing, “One recently came out, and he’s just blossoming and is the light of my life…I love him so much. I’m just trying to do my best for them.”
