Friday, September 20 from 6:30 – 8:45 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) we will be screening our September Book to Film Movie selection “Mary Poppins Returns.” Decades after her original visit, the delightfully quaint nanny Mary Poppins pays a visit when Michael and his three young children face a difficult time in their lives. With her unique magical skills, and with the aid of her friend Jack, Mary Poppins helps the family rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives. Set in depression-era London, fun is brought back to the streets in a celebration where everything is possible, even the impossible. 

Starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer and directed by Rob Marshall, “Mary Poppins Returns” is based on the “Mary Poppins” book series written by P.L. Travers. Many vivid characters from the series make an appearance such as the Balloon Lady played by Angela Lansbury and Topsy Turvy played by Meryl Streep. This film is rated PG. Popcorn and beverages will be served.
