Saturdays at 10 am to 12 pm. Acknowledge your muse and agree to spend time with them in this four-week introductory workshop to creative writing.
Explore fundamental elements of creative writing such as character development, dialogue, plot, setting, conflict and more. Students will study the short story form and will consider what makes a “good” story, with the help of examples and peer feedback. The first two sessions will center largely on instruction and discussion, and the final two sessions will focus on students’ works-in-progress and optional peer critiques. Each session will allow ample time for generative writing, via provided prompts. Students will finish the four-week course with a strong draft piece of creative writing. This course is instructed by Kate Meadows.
