Tuesday, September 17 is Constitution Day. Dolley Madison will visit the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) from 12 to 12:30 p.m. in observance of 232 years since our nation’s first governing document was established! Dolley Madison will be portrayed by Diana Glover, a retired teacher of 31 years with a lifelong interest in American History, particularly the First Ladies of the United States.
James Madison served as the fourth president of the United States from 1809 to 1817 and is hailed as the ‘Father of the Constitution.’ Madison married outgoing, vivacious Dolley Payne Todd. Soon Dolley Madison’s popularity as a social host in the capital of Washington became legendary. Madison enjoyed a strong relationship with her husband becoming his political partner.
This event is sponsored by the Black Hills Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution.
