Matthew Eades for CosmopolitanCamila Cabello is currently one of the opening acts on Taylor Swift‘s Reputation tour, and it’s a dream gig for the singer, who was a massive Taylor fan before she ever met the “Delicate” singer.
In the new issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, cover girl Camila recalls that when she first encountered Taylor, she was a total fangirl.
“We met, like, four years ago at the [MTV] VMAs,” says Camila. “I went up to her and Lorde, and I was like, ‘I just want to say that I really look up to you guys.’ We’ve been friends ever since. She’s one of the people who made me want to start songwriting. I love her. She’s been a great friend, very caring.”
That’s all well and good, except according to Rolling Stone, whose new issue Camila also covers, she first met Taylor through their mutual friend Hailee Steinfeld, when Camila was going through her first breakup.
“She sent me a breakup playlist and said, ‘Come over. Let’s talk about it,'” Camila tells Rolling Stone, adding, “It was, like, a girls-night thing.”
No matter how they met, the “Havana” singer and Taylor are now BFFs, and will be on tour together all summer. The Reputation tour heads overseas starting next week, and Camila will be doing some solo headlining shows in between opening for Taylor.
