ABC/Rick RowellIn celebration of International Women’s Day Friday, Lady Gaga kicked off a chain of tweets honoring inspiring women.

“Name a woman who inspired you using #SheInspiresMe!” the official Twitter account wrote. “Wanna kick us off @ladygaga?”

Gaga obliged by naming her mom, Cynthia Germanotta, as a woman who inspires her.

“I celebrate and honor her for #InternationalWomensDay (and every day) for helping me lead [the Born This Way Foundation] to create a movement to increase awareness around mental wellness and decrease stigma through programs like #teenMHFA,” she wrote. “Who do YOU celebrate?”

Her participation sparked a response from her mom, who nominated philanthropist Melinda Gates, who in turn named filmmaker Ava DuVernay. DuVernay tagged #MeToo founder Tarana Burke, who named actress Gabrielle Union, who then passed the honor along to Jessica Alba.

And so on!
