Today is National Nacho Day! And did you know Nachos were actually invented by a dude named: “Nacho”?

His full name was Ignacio Anaya (or “Nacho” for short)… But In 1943, he was working at a restaurant in Piedras Negras, Mexico when a group of American military wives came in after closing time… The kitchen was already shut down, so he improvised a dish for them… by cutting up some tortillas, frying ’em up, adding some cheese & jalapeños and called it: “Nacho’s Especiales.”

And the name stuck… So ever since, they’ve simply been known as “Nachos”.

But what other Popular Foods were named after the person who created it? You’ll have to tell ME, during a special: “NACHO or NACH-NO” edition of Plenty of Twenty.
