The Rapid City Urban Forestry Board will host the annual Community Tree Care Workshop Friday, April 27 from 8 a.m. to noon at The Outdoor Campus-West. 4130 Adventure Trail
Workshop topics include selecting the right tree for the right spot, how to plant a new tree, pruning young trees, common ornamental pests, when to hire an arborist and how to access community resources. The first 40 people to register for the workshop receive a free tree seedling.
“The workshop is an opportunity to learn important details on how to plant and provide proper care for trees,” said Andy Bernard, City Urban Forester. “Learning, knowing and understanding this information can allow a home or business owner to experience many years of enjoyment with their trees, greatly enhancing the home or business surroundings.”
The workshop is free and open to the public, however class size is limited. Please contact the Rapid City Parks Division at 394-4175 to attend. Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
