The downtown library (610 Quincy Street) is excited to host the Black Hills Balinese Gamelan. You can enjoy the lively percussion-based music of Bali, Indonesia in our Community Room (upstairs) Saturday, February 9 beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Founding member Rodney Garnett and fellow local musicians feature an array of colorful, tone bar instruments and gongs. Curious attendees are welcome to take part in a gamelan workshop after the performance!
Master Balinese artists I Made Lasmawan and Ni Kethut Marni dedicated the ensemble’s instruments in 2017 and named the new ensemble Raga Garnita, “Joyful Heart.” The Black Hills Balinese Gamelan is based in Spearfish, SD.
