Join us Sunday, September 29 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the downtown library (610 Quincy Street, upstairs) and remember Toni Morrison by experiencing the legendary storyteller’s life, works and the powerful themes she confronted throughout her literary career.
Documented by her lifelong friend and photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders, “Toni Morrison: The Pieces I Am,” follows an exploration of race, history, America and the human condition. The film includes discussion of Morrison’s acclaimed works, role as an editor and her time teaching at Princeton University. Before Toni Morrison, no African American had won the Nobel Prize for literature. Her 1993 honor served as an adjustment to America’s literary canon as her books were written from a vital, underrepresented point of view.
