Nate HoffmanLast September, Echosmith pushed back the release of their sophomore album and a scheduled tour.  They’re now back on the road, and lead singer Sydney Sierota says she’s surprised at how much she’s enjoying herself.

“Honestly, it’s surpassed my expectations,” she tells ABC Radio. “I mean, I knew it was gonna be great, but it had been so long since we toured — over two years — so I was a little nervous going into it, wondering if I was gonna be homesick, and all that.  But I’m not, just ’cause this is so much fun!”

The sibling group’s also excited about how their new single “Over My Head” is being received by fans.

“The new music is going over amazing,” Sydney gushes. “I mean we put out ‘Over My Head’…maybe two weeks before we went on the road, and from the first show to right now, everyone’s been singing it. And it’s been really cool to see that continue to grow…before our eyes.”

Last year, the Sierota siblings’ guitarist brother Jamie left the group, and they’re now touring as a trio. But Sydney says, “Our fans are really supportive…I just think that it’s most important that we remain who we are at the core, and that’s what’s gonna matter to the fans the most.”

As for their decision to delay the album’s release, Sydney explains, “We just felt like it was really important to be sure about every single song on the album. And we were really sure about it, but we just felt like there needed to be more said.”

So, after writing a batch of new songs, Sydney explains, “We’re now at the phase where we have to decide which stories we really feel are the most important.”

The new album’s due in the next few months.
